Tip: to get the audio from a video, just add the video file. We'll extract the soundtrack and save it as MP3 or WAV.

Private by design: everything happens in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

How to convert MP3 to WAV

  1. Add your MP3 files.
  2. WAV is already selected. Choose 44.1 kHz for CDs and most software, or 48 kHz for video projects.
  3. Click Convert.
  4. Download the WAV files, or a ZIP of all of them.

WAV for editing, MP3 for sharing

Editing an MP3 and saving it again as MP3 compresses it a second time, and quality drops with each save. Converting to WAV first means you only lose quality once, when you export the final version.

Need to trim the audio? The audio cutter can save straight to WAV.

Frequently asked questions

Does converting MP3 to WAV improve the sound?

No. WAV stores the audio exactly as decoded, but it can't restore what MP3 compression removed. It just avoids any further loss when editing.

Why would I need WAV?

Many audio editors, samplers, DJ and CD-burning tools, phone systems (hold music) and game engines expect WAV.

What WAV format do I get?

Standard 16-bit PCM WAV, stereo or mono like the original, at the sample rate you pick. It opens in practically every program.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Conversion runs in your browser on your own device, so your files never reach our servers, and large files are just as private as small ones.
