Tip: to get the audio from a video, just add the video file. We'll extract the soundtrack and save it as MP3 or WAV.

Private by design: everything happens in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

How to convert MP4 to MP3

  1. Add one or more MP4 videos from your device. MOV and WebM videos work too.
  2. MP3 is already selected. 192 kbps suits music; 128 kbps is plenty for talks and lectures.
  3. Click Convert. The soundtrack is extracted on your device, so there's no upload wait.
  4. Download each MP3, or all of them as a ZIP.

Good reasons to turn video into MP3

  • Lectures and webinars: listen on your commute without keeping the screen on.
  • Your own videos: reuse the soundtrack of a phone video as a voice note or podcast clip.
  • Save space: an hour of video can be over 1 GB; the same hour as MP3 is around 60–90 MB.

Only need part of the audio? Convert first, then trim it with the audio cutter.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to convert a long video?

Usually a few seconds per minute of audio on a laptop. There is no upload, so a 1 GB video starts converting immediately.

Can I convert a YouTube or TikTok link?

No. This tool only converts files that are already on your device, such as your own recordings or videos you have the rights to. Downloading from streaming sites usually breaks their terms.

My video has no sound after converting. Why?

Some screen recordings and silent clips have no audio track at all. If the video plays with sound in your media player, try Chrome or Edge, which decode the widest range of formats.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Conversion runs in your browser on your own device, so your files never reach our servers, and large files are just as private as small ones.
