Audio converter: convert files to MP3 or WAV

Turn almost any audio file, or the soundtrack of a video, into MP3 or WAV. Add several files at once, pick the quality, and download them one by one or as a ZIP. Conversion runs on your device, so even large files stay private.

Tip: to get the audio from a video, just add the video file. We'll extract the soundtrack and save it as MP3 or WAV.

Private by design: everything happens in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

How to convert audio to MP3 or WAV

  1. Add one or more files by clicking the box or dropping them in. Audio and video files both work.
  2. Choose MP3 or WAV. For MP3, 192 kbps is a good balance of size and quality.
  3. Click Convert. Each file shows its progress, and conversion happens on your own device.
  4. Download files one by one, or click Download all as ZIP.

Features

Batch conversion

Convert a whole folder of voice memos or tracks in one go and download them as a ZIP.

Quality control

Choose the bitrate, sample rate and mono or stereo to balance size and quality.

No uploads

Files are converted by your browser, which is faster than uploading and keeps them private.

MP3 or WAV: which one?

MP3 compresses audio by removing details people can't hear well. It is small, plays on every device, and is the right choice for music libraries, podcasts and sharing. WAV stores every sample exactly, so it is much larger but perfect for editing and archiving.

Common conversions

  • M4A to MP3: iPhone voice memos and iTunes downloads to a format every car stereo understands.
  • WAV to MP3: shrink recordings by around 90% for email or messaging.
  • FLAC to MP3: fit a lossless music collection onto a phone.
  • MP4 to MP3: keep the audio of a lecture, talk or your own video.
  • OGG or Opus to MP3: make WhatsApp and Telegram voice messages playable anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

Which formats can I convert?

You can open MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, Opus, FLAC and WebM audio, plus the audio track of MP4, MOV and most WebM videos. Exact support depends on your browser; Chrome and Edge open the widest range.

How do I convert M4A to MP3?

Add your M4A files, make sure MP3 is selected, and click Convert. iPhone voice memos are M4A files, so this is the easiest way to make them play everywhere.

How do I convert MP4 to MP3?

Add the MP4 video. The converter reads its soundtrack and saves it as MP3. Only convert videos you own or have permission to use.

What bitrate should I choose?

128 kbps is fine for speech and podcasts, 192 kbps for most music, and 320 kbps for the highest MP3 quality. Converting from a low-quality file to a high bitrate won't improve it.

Why choose WAV?

WAV is uncompressed, so nothing is lost. It is the right choice for editing in other software, but files are about ten times larger than MP3.

Is there a limit on file size or number of files?

There's no fixed limit because nothing is uploaded. Very large files (over a few hundred MB) can be slow on phones or older computers.
